Management is singing the old song – Get prepared for serious struggles to settle Wage Revision.
As is already informed, a meeting of the Wage Negotiating Committee was held yesterday the 10.06.2022. We are demanding Wage Revision with 5% fitment. However, the Management is singing the old song. They are telling that, being a loss-making company, the employees of BSNL or not eligible for Wage Revision, as per the recommendations of the 3rd Pay Revision Committee. (3rd PRC). The whole country knows that, BSNL has become a loss-making company, not because of the employees, but only because of the policies of the government. Hence denying Wage Revision to the employees, on the plea that the Company is running into loss, is nothing cheating. Under these circumstances, the Wage Negotiating Committee meetings have become an empty formality. Meetings are taking place, but result is not coming. Now, the employees must realise that, Wage Revision with 5% fitment cannot be settled without serious struggles. The AUAB has given call to organise Twitter Campaign on 14.06.2022 and also to submit Memorandums to the Hon’ble MPs and Hon’ble Ministers. The AUAB will intensify it’s struggles if the Management does not come forward to settle the Wage Revision issue. Under these circumstances, BSNLEU urges upon the employees to realise the gravity of the situation and implement all the calls of the AUAB massively. Make the ‘Twitter Campaign’ and ‘Submitting of the Memorandum’ a grand success. Get prepared for serious forms of struggles to settle Wage Revision.

11-06-2022 : Wage Negotiating Committee meeting ended without taking any decision:- A meeting of the Wage Negotiating Committee is held on dt- 10-06-2022. In the meeting, the Staff Side strongly demanded that, Wage Revision of the Non-Executives should be settled with 5% fitment, without further delay. The staff side also demanded that, the pay scales already finalised through consensus between the Management Side and the Staff Side, should not be changed. However, the Management Side argued that, settlement of Wage Revision with 5% fitment is not possible due to the following reasons:- 1)As per the recommendations of the 3rd PRC, BSNL employees are not eligible for Wage Revision, since BSNL is running in loss. 2)Every month, there is a shortfall of Rs.800 crore, between BSNL’s revenue collection and the expenditure. Hence, settlement of 5% fitment is not possible Lengthy discussions took place without any result. Finally, the Staff Side demanded that, Wage Revision should be settled with 5% fitment on the following grounds:- 1) BSNL is going to launch it’s 4G service shortly, which will result in increased revenue collection. 2) Top officers of BSNL have already got their pay revision through the 7th CPC, whereas, the employees are denied Wage Revision. 3)Tariffs are increasing in the telecom sector, which can be taken advantage of by BSNL, to some extent. The meeting ended without taking any decision. The Staff Side demanded that, the next meeting should be arranged at earliest possible and .The official side reciprocated that the meeting will be notified on avaibility of both side members at earliest. NOT ONLY THIS – NOW MANAGEENT SAYS TO WAIT FOR NEXT MEMBERSHIP VERIFICATION?
Membership Verification is not a bar for holding the Wage Negotiating Committee meeting – unions tell the Management Side.
At the end of yesterday‘s Wage Negotiating Committee meeting, the Staff Side requested the Management Side to fix the date for the next meeting. However, the Management Side was of the opinion that, the next meeting could take place only after the 9th Membership Verification, which is going to be held in October, 2022. Both the Recognised Unions firmly told that, the recognition of both the unions remains up to 23.09.2022. Hence, there is no bar in holding the next Wage Negotiating Committee meeting, even after the issuing of notification for the 9th Membership Verification. The Management Side assured to look into this point.
