SPECIAL CONVENTION OF BDPA (India) ERNAKULAM HELD AT ADHYAPAKA BHAVAN ON 24 TH SEPTEMBER 2024
Special Convention was designed at Ernakulum by the District Committee BDPA (I) to honour the General Secretary BDPA (I) Shri D. D. Mistry & Shri Anil Patel, Executive President BDPA (I) when they are in the city from Ahmedabad to attend first All India Conference of SNPWA.
Shri A. M. Surendran, District President, presided & Shri Krishna Mohan District Secretary welcomed the Guests.
Shri Thomas John K, All India President BDPA (I), Gopakumar K. K., All India Advisor, Advocate K. V. Jose, Shri G. Surendran Circle Secretary and Sashikumar addressed the gathering.
Shri D.D. Mistry emphasized the need for getting the most delayed Pension revision due from 1/1/2017.He opined that if all Pensioners Unions/Associations took a bold stand of getting Pension revision on IDA scale as per DPE guidelines. Things would have been easier had some pensioners associations could have not reverted to legal process through Court demanding parity with Central Government Pensioners. Court case is the excuse for the Government now in delaying Pension revision. He also throw light how he organized Pensioners by getting just 50 Pensioners in the year 2006 at Ahmedabad.
Now BDPA (I) is a grown up entity with own office and membership spread across India. He was criticized by some when he formed BDPA (I).But he went ahead. Now at the age of 80 + he is confident of getting Pensioners rights by all means. Shri Mistry urged Pensioners to come out of their houses forgetting age related ailments and then only we can achieve our goal.
Thomas John K explained how Government Pension ensured for BSNL pensioners and said he can confidently say only FNTO fought and brought Pension from Consolidated Fund of India, uninterrupted. He said OP Gupta is also a signatory to Pension agreement along with FNTO, the major role played politically by FNTO alone, when BJP Government was in power. The role played by Dr. Sanjeeva Reddy, INTUC President was very crucial.

Shri K. V. Jose emphasized the need to strengthen BDPA (I). Hard work alone is the solution. Shri G Surendran said more amount is given to CHQ from Kerala Circle. Shri Sashikumar said he is confident that Hon Chief Justice Shri Chandrachud will help Pensioners. The case is at present in front of Hon High Court of Delhi. Meeting concluded with National Anthem.
In the meeting, as gesture of inspiring the pensioners, the following active pillars of the BDPA (INDIA) were awarded a letter of appreciation by the G.S. for participating in All India Conference and also participating in a Call of BSNL/MTNL Joint Forum of Pensioners for stating demonstration in front the CCA Office. They had taken pain to undertake four hours train journey to be part of demonstration; when others shied away. The Awardee were happy to have smile, when the audience gave thunderous applause.

Later on Shri D.D. Mistry visited FNTO Office and signed in the visitor book, in presence of K.V. Jose, K. Gopakumar and A.N. Patel.
