I believe that BSNL has tremendous capabilities… My BSNL worker –my family — has tremendous potential, just needs to be triggered.” He will be aware that providing affordable services by BSNL in order to implement the social obligations of the Government, apart from Government policies and decisions thrust upon BSNL now and then, affects its profitability. Affordability of services negatively impacts the affordability to pay and grant of revised pay scales. The ‘tremendous potential of the BSNL workers’ needs to be triggered 2 AIBSNLREA E-journal, December 2024 by relaxing the affordability clause and granting them the revised pay scales, which is eluding them for the past seven years. BSNL employees’ unions and associations should focus on getting the affordability clause relaxed and devise their strategy accordingly, to ensure pay revision.
