On 17.12.2024, GS, Dy GS, Com Mudgil, GS/ MREWA and Com Adsul, GS/ SNEA, reached the chamber of of Hon. MoC at 0945 hrs to meet Hon. MoC but unfortunately we were informed by PS to MoC that Hon. MoC had to suddenly leave for Mumbai yesterday late evening and shall be back by this late evening. The meeting is thus going to be rescheduled in a day or two, we were informed. However, PS to MoC Shri. Mayur Rati Lal Gobekar, an IAS officer, asked us to brief him thoroughly on the issue so that he could accordingly brief Hon. MoC before our meeting with hon. MoC. Thereafter, we extensively briefed PS to MoC for about 45 minutes and he noted down all the crucial details of the issue. In between, he discussed the issue with DDG[ Establishment]/ DOT and got briefed from her regarding latest developments on the issue. After getting briefed thoroughly, PS informed us that he will brief Hon. MoC before our meeting with Hon. MoC which is expected to be held shortly.
Meeting with DDG (Estt) and Director (Est) DoT:
Extremely significant development regarding extending of Notional Increment and had discussion on 5 % IDA Issue.
Consequent upon our lodging very strong protest with the Secy. (T), DOT about three weeks before for not extending the benefit of notional increment to similarly placed retirees in BSNL/ MTNL, DOT has taken a very swift action by referring the issue instantaneously to DOP & PW for extending the benefit to similarly placed retirees of BSNL/ MTNL and thereafter DOT has vigorously pursued the issue with DOP & PW. This was quite evident from the discussions with DDG (Estt.) who informed us that orders for extending the benefit to BSNL/ MTNL will be issued very shortly. The file appears to have been approved by DOP & PW and the orders are expected to be issued by DOT very shortly. We are extremely thankful to Secy. (T) DOT for his very prompt intervention in getting the issue resolved for BSNL/ MTNL retirees quite expeditiously.
On the issue of 5 % IDA, DDG (Est.) informed that on the basis of the report of the CGCA, her office is finalizing a note and in a day or so, it will be put up to the concerned officer of the PSU section for further processing. She said that the file has to be routed through the PSU section up to the office of Additional Secretary to take the final decision on the issue. We will also try to meet the Additional Secretary at the earliest possible, as per convenience of the AS.
